| Matching Faces Within a Panel Run |

Lot or Running
Match If part of a veneer sheet is left over, it is used on the adjacent panel. A small portion of grain pattern may be eliminated due to trimming on Flitch and Sequence Match, but is carefully avoided in Blueprint Matched panels. This method insures the greatest continuity of grain. |

Balance Match Panel faces are made from equal width veneer sheets. Grain continuity may change when a different number of veneer sheets are used on adjacent panels. Note this example in the left-hand and center panels Balanced Matched panels are generally more symmetrical than Running Matched panels. |

Center Match Panel faces are made from an even number of equal width veneer sheets. This produces the most symmetrical panel. Grain continuity may change as noted between the left-hand and center panel. This is the most expensive type of matching |

Full Flitch
Match (Center Wall Match) Balance Matched or Center Matched veneer may be further matched in this method. Veneer is selected and divided so that the final panel when installed will create a match where the grain pattern will peak in the center of the wall and taper or diminish toward the outer edges. |
